Strangers & Fiction

Guests will tell true stories to inspire improv scenes in a perfect union of truth and comedy. We’ll show you just how funny life can be.

Read on to find out about our fantastic guests!

June 1 – Sara Bynoe

Sara Bynoe is an actor, writer, and producer. She’s known for her shows Teen Angst Night, Novelty Act, and Say Wha?! You might have seen her on TV as a frazzled teacher in a commercial or on stage at one of Vancouver’s many great alt comedy/improv shows. Sara is a graduate of Studio 58 and has an MA in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths, University of London. She also works in TV as a story producer (This Is High School and Sex Sent Me to the ER). She really, really loves to dance. www.SaraBynoe.com

June 2 – Andrew Bailey

Andrew Bailey’s solo shows (including The Adversary, Limbo, and Me, the Queen, and a Coconut) have won awards across the country. His comedic work with Victoria’s Atomic Vaudeville Cabaret has been acclaimed for over a decade and yielded the satiric monologue, Why Rape is Sincerely Hilarious, which has more than 2.2 million YouTube views and is featured on websites including Upworthy, Jezebel, and Vice. Bailey’s first novel, The Rite of James Biddle, is published by Bayeux Arts. He lives in Vancouver where he writes and performs in the live action radio horror comedy Phantom Signal.

June 3 – Alicia Tobin

“Alicia Tobin is extremely funny. She has a sharp, sensitive comic sensibility that makes you want more”- Rob Delaney, Famous Person

Comedian and writer Alicia Tobin started performing stand up in 2007. She has her own show called Alicia Tobin’s Come Draw with Me, a hilarious podcast about working in retail, and is a published author. She’s fun to talk to at parties, but can’t eat gluten so tends to hover around the cheese plate protectively until she’s finished all the cheese she likes, then does a bunch of dishes and leaves without saying goodbye. She wakes up most days agape at the beauty of the natural world and has more than once missed her bus to work because of a particularly beautiful squirrel.
