Q: What’s the best thing about having anxiety?

A: Probably this improv class.

In all seriousness, living with anxiety (social, or generalized) is no joke. That’s why Instant Theatre is proud to offer Improv for the Anxious. Delivered by certified teacher, experienced improvisor, and professional anxiety have-er, Cassie Barradas, this 8 week course is designed to help combat anxious thoughts through collaborative and fun improv exercises. And don’t worry – there’s no class show at the end. Walk away with an improved sense of confidence, self acceptance, new friends, and a whole bunch of tools you can use when overwhelmed. This is an inclusive, safe and supportive environment. All anxiety-havers welcome.

Cassie Barradas is a former middle school teacher and a current goofball. New to Vancouver, she is an alumni of the Second City House Ensemble in Toronto where she’s made a living performing and teaching improv for the past 6 years. From working with primary school students, to adults with anxiety, she loves helping people find their comedic voice. She is especially proud to have developed Improv for Teens on the Spectrum, which was featured on CBC Tapestry’s “Waiter, There’s a Hammer in my Soup.” Aside from the classroom, Cassie is a writer, children’s theatre performer, and anxiety-haver. She’s been published 17 times with CBC Comedy, 2 times with Reader’s Digest, 1 time with The Second City Network, and 0 times with National Geographic. She is mother to two amazing cats: Mooney and Bo.
