Instant Theatre Company proudly presents EXPO, three nights of brand new, never before seen improvisational comedy. The EXPO festival throws established improvisers and directors together with emerging artists to blow the boundaries of traditional improvisational theatre. Nothing is tried and true. Nothing is ever the same. It’s the finest improv test lab in the city and this year is no exception. We’ve got improv in the dark! Karaoke! Historical drama! And a surprise cameo from the world’s top divas, Tina Turner and Cher! The EXPO performance series is a yearly reminder that the art-form is alive and innovating in Vancouver.

“THE BEST PART ABOUT IMPROV IS EVEN WHEN YOU FAIL BIG THE AUDIENCE STILL HAS A GREAT TIME. EXPO IS A BIT LIKE NASCAR, YOU LOVE THE RACE BUT THE LIKELIHOOD OF A SWEET CRASH MAKES IT EVEN BETTER.” – ALISTAIR COOK, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF INSTANT THEATRE COMPANY

Instant Theatre is dedicated to the production of world class improvisational theatre. Known for their quick wit and innovative formats, Instant Theatre has spent over two decades pursuing its goal of furthering the art of improvisation. Led by Artistic Director Alistair Cook, former National Director of the Canadian Improv Games, Instant Theatre has long served as a bridge allowing emerging artists to develop their skills alongside a diverse company of mentors. Instant Theatre produces over one hundred shows every year and is home to British Columbia’s longest running improv show, “Cagematch” which started in 2000. The company has been selected to perform at festivals all over the world including Berlin, Miami, Portland, Chicago, Toronto, and has placed in the top three at every competitive improv event they have entered.
